Following a frustrating start to the 2015 season during the Toyota Racing Series New Zealand where Matteo suffered from incessant new car technical issues, he will wrap up a productive Formula Renault 2.0 testing program this week in Monza. Matteo will contest the 2015 Formula Renault 2.0 ALPS Championship with CRAM Motorsport. His is delighted to have the opportunity to work with the Team and sink his teeth into the new challenges of racing in Europe.

The Erba (Italy) based team has achieved great success in several categories at both national and international levels over the past twenty years, and boasts a history of past drivers who have reached the ultimate goal of Formula One.

CRAM Motorsport will field three cars in the 2015 Formula Renault 2.0 ALPS Championship and team owners, brothers, Simone and Gabriele Rosei are pleased Matteo has joined the team, saying; “The testing we have done with Matteo has been very promising and we are pleased to be able to run a driver with Italian heritage in our team.”

His first season racing on European circuits provides an exciting prospect for the Italian/German. Matteo is very much looking forward to having the opportunity to compete on a number of Grand Prix circuits, including some of those where Wolfgang Berghe von Trips raced, the founder of Scuderia Colonia. Matteo has the honour to carry the Scuderia Colonia logo on his car and race equipment. Matteo commented; “I’m very pleased with the work we’ve done in preparation for the ALPS Championship. After the challenges in New Zealand, I’ve really enjoyed my testing in Formula Renault.”

During his 2014 season of Protyre Formula Renault in the UK, Matteo made great strides in bridging the experience gap to his fellow competitors, having not followed the conventional route through karting. In only his third year in any form of motorsport Matteo made a remarkable impression against his more experienced opposition, taking five pole positions, a win and seven podiums during the Championship. He ultimately finished third overall.

Matteo will continue to be supported in his career development by Allinsport in 2015.
